Why Freedive?

Often people ask me why you freedive, if you can scuba dive? Dive longer with tank without you need to hold breath, without that your body screaming you “heilà i need air, can you breath please?”

Everything starts with the curiosity of know… What is that object at the bottom of the sea? A breath, two breaths, a somersault and … we are in a new world, guests of this new world, but only for a few seconds, Rememeber? The body will ask rapidly air…

So why freediving or apnea dive? To dive feeling yourself free… But free from what? From equipment? From fears? From stress? That sensation to can fly…

Yes but, why freediving? today it’s a sport where man has great results, till few years ago unthinkables… Try to think at Enzo Maiorca, who he is? He is one of the first men to hold his breath and to challange the ocean, often making to scream at the miracle. -50 meters in 1961 (CWT), -60 in 1976 (CWT), in continuous challenge with others freedivers. Today the record is of Alexey Molchanov -129 meters (CWT with monophins), for the women is of Alessia Zecchini -104 meters. So the reason is the competition? So the reason is the challenge with others? No, not even…

Answer to this question it’s not easy, every freediver will try to explain his reasones, but it will be no easy to understand. The true question is? Is freediving for me? why not?
